Our vote on Wigan’s Greatest Super League Era XIII has taken on a life of its own, with still two days left on the voting, we have had over 500 votes cast. We are incredibly grateful for your involvement in the vote and your initial support of our new fanpage.
The vote should showcase a good cross-section of Wigan Fan’s opinion on the players that have had the biggest impact since 1996, we are looking forward to sharing the results with you on Saturday.
Despite only playing a handful of games in the Super League era for the Warriors, Martin Offiah and Shaun Edwards are proving to be popular votes, however Richards and Robinson are running Offiah close in the poll; as Barrett and Leuluai are for Edwards.
The toughest choice for many people has been the straight shootout between Andrew Farrell and Sean O’Loughlin for the loose forward position. From debate on Facebook and Twitter, it looks like many people consider Farrell to be the better player but O’Loughlin’s class and loyalty is swaying many voters in his direction.
The poll was deliberately made to force people into tough choices, in many cases, people suggested they would have put Andrew Farrell in as a second row or even prop to accommodate for O’Loughlin. We have made the poll a simple vote for players in their primary positions – which should make interesting reading when the result is released on Saturday.
